How NCSF Gives Back to Our Community

October 1, 2017

National Catholic Society of Foresters was created with the goal of helping people to secure their futures. While we partly do so by offering a number of types of life insurance coverage and retirement plans, we also place a good deal of importance on philanthropy, and devote our time and resources to helping communities in the states that we serve. As a fraternal organization, we provide our members with products and services to help them in their personal lives and use the profits from the sales of these products to fund our fraternal benefits which include grants, scholarships, and many other philanthropic efforts.

Our Fraternal Organization

Fraternalism is an exceptional combination of providing financial products to help members protect their families while making a positive impact in their community.

Our Society was formed in 1891, when a group of women belonging to Holy Family Parish wished to help pay for the funeral of one of the parishoners and to help support her family. Thus the seed was planted to continue this work for others. Today, we have over 26,000 members who continue to further our cause of helping people to protect their futures and families while contributing to their communities.

NCSF and the Community

There are a number of member benefits that we offer on an individual level and others that are geared towards helping the members’ community:

  • Education - We support education through our grants and scholarships for members.
  • Programs - We have created several programs that include Hearts and Hands (which matches funds raised by local courts for pre-approved activities), Junior Activity Program (which provides financial assistance for service projects and activities for younger members), Join Hands Day (a national volunteer day), and a National Project to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Support.

Most recently, we created our own Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, which raised a total of $1,620. Our fund accepted donations through September 29, 2017. All donated funds were sent to the local Catholic Charities chapter, which used their funds to provide ground support, set up shelters, distribute supplies, and mobilize to make sure that families were all right as well as check if they are in need of additional disaster relief aid.
