KBRA Releases Rating Report for National Catholic Society of Foresters

September 7, 2018

Mount Prospect, Illinois (September 7, 2018) — On July 31, 2018, Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) assigned an insurance financial strength rating (IFSR) of BBB- with a Stable Outlook to National Catholic Society of Foresters (NCSF or the Society). NCSF is a member-based fraternal organization based in Mount Prospect, Illinois.

The rating reflects NCSF’s sound risk-adjusted capitalization, conservative investment portfolio, improved corporate governance and generally profitable operations. NCSF is a 127 year-old not-for-profit life insurer established to help members achieve financial security while supporting the Catholic community through fraternal outreach. Although the Society is significantly smaller than several of its Catholic-based fraternal peers – based on assets and surplus – KBRA believes it is well-capitalized on a risk-adjusted basis.

The Society is committed to providing excellent service to its members and independent agent partners, and offers a portfolio of uncomplicated life insurance and retirement products to Catholic families and businesses. NCSF maintains a sound balance sheet with minimal exposure to high-risk investments, favorable liquidity and no financial leverage. The Society recently amended its bylaws to achieve greater stability in its governance structure, identifying the Board of Directors as the supreme governing body for NCSF. Moreover, NCSF has recently added experienced staff and implemented a strategic plan to revitalize the organization with a focus on stabilizing/increasing membership as well as improving profitability.
