Qualified money is tax-deferred. Non-qualified money use after-tax dollars.

 

Can I select a stream of income for shorter periods than ‘for life’?

Yes, the SPIA allows you to have your income to last for 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 years. In the event of your passing before the designated period concludes, your beneficiary will be entitled to receive the remaining payments.

You can also combine these periods with a life contingency. If you live longer than the period, you can have payments continue for the rest of your life.
